A 54-year-old man from Lautoka is recovering in the hospital following a violent attack at his home in Saweni this past week, leaving his family shaken and fearful. Rosan Ali was allegedly kidnapped by a group of men who arrived in a twin cab alongside another vehicle. In a dramatic turn of events, his daughter, Imrana Simran Ali, displayed exceptional bravery by escaping the situation; she jumped from a moving vehicle during what she believes was an attempted abduction.

Imrana’s father was reportedly targeted for reasons that remain unclear to the family. Yusuf Ali, Rosan’s elder brother, stated that over five assailants were involved and shared the family’s distress regarding the death threats they received before the incident.

Just hours before the attack, Imrana was approached by a family friend, who is now suspected of connection to the kidnapping, to join him for drinks. “I refused the offer, and I do not know why they are after me,” she recounted. Following her escape, she sought refuge at a neighbor’s home, only to witness her father being assaulted. When she alerted her uncle to the situation, he arrived too late; Rosan had already been taken away.

Fortunately, a neighbor alerted the authorities, and a chase led by Rosan’s nephew enabled the police to apprehend three suspects near the Saweni Mosque shortly thereafter. Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the arrests, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing to ascertain the motive behind this violent act.

As Rosan continues his recovery, his family is left grappling with anxiety while actively seeking answers. The local community has come together in support, fostering hope that justice will be served and that measures will be strengthened to prevent such violent episodes in the future. The efficient response from law enforcement showcases a commitment to addressing the concerns of the community, providing reassurance to those affected by this troubling incident.
