Danny DeVito recently provided fans with an update on his long-lasting friendship with acclaimed actor Jack Nicholson. In a conversation shared by People, DeVito, who is 80 years old, revealed that he saw Nicholson a couple of weeks ago to celebrate his birthday, noting, “he’s great.”

The two actors initially crossed paths over 50 years ago while working on the classic film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” DeVito recounted how actors Christopher Lloyd and Brad Dourif were “in awe” of Nicholson during the filming process. He described the moment, saying, “We’re in the presence of this guy who’s really at his moment… There was no need for an icebreaker. He was immediately just so embracing.”

Reflecting on Nicholson’s background, DeVito shared that Nicholson started out just like many others in Hollywood, struggling to find work before his career took off with films like “Easy Rider.” DeVito emphasized Nicholson’s genuine nature, saying, “He was always just as open and genuine, and we all felt it immediately.”

Despite having retreated from the public eye in recent years, Nicholson has made rare appearances, including a notable one during SNL50: The Anniversary Special, where he joined fellow entertainment icons. He was seen sitting with his daughter Lorraine, who showed her support during the live event.

This glimpse into DeVito and Nicholson’s friendship highlights the depth of their bond and the warmth between these legendary actors, making it clear that the mutual respect from their earlier days in Hollywood continues to shine through. As both icons navigate their later years, fans can find solace in the enduring connections that define their careers.
