Victoria Kjaer Theilvig has made history by becoming Miss Universe 2024, marking a significant milestone as the first Danish contestant to ever win the prestigious title. The 21-year-old, known for her work as an animal protection advocate, entrepreneurship, and a background in professional dance, expressed sheer joy at her win. In a video posted on the competition’s official Instagram account, she excitedly exclaimed, “Miss Universe!” just moments after being crowned.

On her first morning as Miss Universe, Kjaer shared a touching moment with her followers, posting photos of herself in a hotel bathrobe adorned with her crown and sash. She captioned the moment, “First sunrise as Miss Universe,” reflecting her gratitude and readiness to embark on what promises to be an incredible journey.

In the final results, Miss Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, secured the first runner-up position. Other top finalists included Miss Mexico Maria Fernanda Beltran Figueroa, Miss Thailand Opal Suchata Chuangsri, and Miss Venezuela Ileana Marquez Pedroza. Notably, Miss USA Alma Cooper, who had a tumultuous path to the crown during a controversial year, did not place in the competition.

The 73rd Miss Universe pageant took place in Mexico City, returning to the Mexican capital for the first time in 17 years. The event was hosted by Mario López and Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, with live commentary provided by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and Zuri Hall.

Kjaer’s victory could inspire more Danish contestants to participate in future pageants, reinforcing the notion that dreams can lead to extraordinary achievement.

This remarkable achievement not only shines a light on Denmark but also emphasizes the importance of representation in global events, showcasing the diverse talents and stories from around the world.
