The participation of transgender athletes in women’s sports has emerged as a contentious issue, particularly this election year, and former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has shared her views on the topic.
During an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Patrick, recognized as one of the most accomplished women in American racing history, expressed her opinion on trans athletes competing alongside biological females in women’s sports. She stated, “It’s completely wrong,” emphasizing that her perspective comes from being a woman involved in a predominantly male sport. “A man is just different, their hormones are different, their body is different,” she added.
In the same interview, Patrick disclosed that her first vote in a presidential election will go to Donald Trump, whom she identifies as the “rational, reasonable choice.”
Recently, Trump has also articulated his stance on transgender inclusion in women’s sports during an appearance on Barstool Sports’ “Bussin’ with the Boys,” where he discussed issues surrounding national unity. He highlighted a range of divisive topics, including the participation of trans women in women’s sports, remarking, “I don’t think I could ever say I’m thrilled about that. I’ve seen it. I’ve seen people really hurt.” He pointed to the controversy in this year’s Olympics involving athletes Imane Khelif and Lin Yu Ting, who both won gold medals in women’s boxing amidst a gender-related debate.
Trump’s views on this issue have been consistent since he briefly touched on it at the Republican National Convention in July.
Patrick is not alone in her opinions; other professional athletes share similar sentiments. Golfer Lauren Miller recently stated on OutKick’s “Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich” that she believes Trump would be more effective than Vice President Kamala Harris in protecting women’s sports. She noted that Trump has openly declared at his rallies that “men will not play in women’s sports,” contrasting this with Harris’s lack of equivalent policy initiatives.
Patrick elaborated on her passion for supporting Trump this election season, saying, “It feels like voting for Donald Trump is like the vote of reason… I feel like it can not only make America great again, but make America greater than it’s ever been.”
