In late 2023, the stable expanded its roster to include former Women’s Champion Asuka and Kairi Sane, both accomplished in their own right, having also held the Women’s Tag Team Titles together. The group saw a peak in early 2024 when Bayley claimed victory in the Women’s Royal Rumble, and Sky became a WWE Women’s Champion after cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase. However, Bayley ultimately won the WWE Women’s Title from Sky at WrestleMania 40, marking a pivotal moment for the group.
After Bayley’s exit, the remaining members—Sky, Kai, Asuka, and Sane—faced a series of challenges. Asuka was sidelined for a year due to injury, Kai was released in early May, and Sane dealt with injuries, leaving Sky as the sole member actively competing as the Women’s World Champion.
Recently, WWE made the internal decision to officially disband Damage CTRL following Kai’s release, and the remaining members have since not been introduced collectively as part of the group. Despite this dissolution, there is a glimmer of hope, as sources suggest the possibility of future collaborations among the stars and a chance the group could return, indicating that while Damage CTRL may be finished for now, the door for reunion isn’t entirely closed.
Asuka is set to return to the ring on an upcoming June episode of Raw, where she will participate in a Queen of the Ring qualifying match, further tantalizing fans with the potential for renewed storylines involving former members of Damage CTRL.
