Jim Nagy and the Oklahoma Sooners continue to build momentum as they welcome Dakoda Fields, the latest addition to their roster, marking the sixth transfer commitment of the day. Fields, who previously played as a defensive back for Oregon, arrived on campus for his official visit on Monday and quickly announced his commitment via social media.
A highly regarded recruit from high school, Fields redshirted his first year with the Ducks in 2024 and saw limited action in 2025, logging just one tackle during Oregon’s season opener against Montana State. Despite the minimal gameplay experience, Fields is viewed as a player with considerable potential who adds depth to Oklahoma’s cornerback position, especially following the departures of players such as Devon Jordan, Gentry Williams, and Maliek Hawkins who entered the transfer portal.
At 6-foot-2 and weighing 200 pounds, Fields brings a physical presence and an impressive upside to the Sooners’ secondary. Oklahoma already has two established starters in Courtland Guillory and Eli Bowen, but with the depth concerns on the roster, Fields’ commitment signifies a strategic move to bolster the team.
This marks Oklahoma’s first defensive transfer addition in the current cycle, complementing their earlier six offensive transfer signings. Fields will have three years of eligibility remaining, which opens up exciting possibilities for his development under the guidance of OU cornerbacks coach Jay Valai.
As the Sooners continue to enhance their roster, fans can look forward to a promising season ahead, fueled by strategic recruitment and the incoming talent of players like Dakoda Fields.
