The Dallas Cowboys have reached an agreement with quarterback Dak Prescott on a monumental four-year contract worth $240 million, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to various reports.
The contract includes an impressive $231 million in guaranteed money, with ESPN being the first to report the news.
As Prescott approached the final year of his previous contract, the lengthy negotiations culminated in him securing the largest contract in league history, equating to $60 million annually.
At 31 years old, Prescott was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and is entering his ninth season, all spent with the Cowboys. He boasts a career record of 73 wins and 41 losses, although his postseason performance stands at 2 wins and 5 losses.
In the previous season, Prescott achieved personal bests, completing 410 passes and throwing for 36 touchdowns, totaling 4,516 passing yards, with just nine interceptions. He played a pivotal role in guiding the Cowboys to a 12-5 record, but the team faced an early playoff exit at home against the Green Bay Packers.
With this new contract, Prescott becomes the second Cowboy this offseason to finalize a deal after extended negotiations, alongside top receiver CeeDee Lamb. Both players are now committed to the team through 2028.
The Cowboys are set to face the Cleveland Browns in their opening game of Week 1.
