The Dallas Cowboys have finalized a four-year contract worth $240 million with quarterback Dak Prescott, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history, according to various reports.
This contract features $231 million guaranteed. ESPN was the first to report on the signing.
Prescott was approaching the last year of his previous deal, and the lengthy negotiation process concluded with him securing the largest contract in league history, averaging $60 million per season.
At 31 years old, Prescott was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and is entering his ninth season with the Cowboys. He holds a career record of 73 wins and 41 losses, though his postseason record stands at 2 wins and 5 losses.
Last season, Prescott achieved personal bests in completions with 410 and touchdowns with 36, passing for a total of 4,516 yards with just nine interceptions. He helped guide the Cowboys to a 12-5 regular-season record, but they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs at home against the Green Bay Packers.
Prescott is the second Cowboys player to secure a new contract after lengthy negotiations this offseason, following top receiver CeeDee Lamb. Both Prescott and Lamb are now signed through the year 2028.
The Cowboys will kick off their season against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1.
