More than 6,500 riders are expected to participate in this year’s Pelotonia Ride Weekend, which takes place across Central Ohio. The event features a selection of routes ranging from 24 to a challenging 190 miles, accommodating both one- and two-day riding options. The opening ceremony is set for Friday, August 1, with rides commencing early the following morning, August 2.
To facilitate the event, Columbus Department of Public Service will implement street closures around North Bank Park and McFerson Commons in the Arena District beginning Friday, August 1, at 9 AM. These closures will remain in effect until Saturday, August 2, at 2 PM. The affected streets include:
– Neil Ave – Long St to New Public Lane
– West St – Spring St to Nationwide Blvd
– John H. McConnell Blvd – Spring St to New Public Lane
– Spring St – Hocking St to Marconi Blvd
– Long St – Hocking St to Marconi Blvd
The ride routes will initiate in Downtown Columbus on Saturday, taking riders east along Broad St and through several city streets, such as James Rd/Stelzer Rd, E. 5th Ave, Hamilton Rd, and Taylor Rd, en route to New Albany or Gambier. Expect rolling closures along these routes to ensure the safety of the cyclists.
