Stephen Curry has received clearance to engage in shooting drills and light workouts on the court following a strained left hamstring, raising hopes for his potential return to the Golden State Warriors if they can secure a victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 6.
The Warriors conducted a reevaluation of Curry on Wednesday just before their critical must-win Game 5, which he would miss, and they reported he is “making good progress” in recovery from the injury he sustained during the opening game of the second-round series. This development is particularly promising as the Warriors look to extend their playoff run.
If the team wins against the Timberwolves, Curry is set to be evaluated again on Saturday, prior to Game 6 in San Francisco on Sunday. The three-day break between Games 5 and 6 provides additional time for Curry to rehabilitate.
Though Curry is traveling with the team to Minneapolis, he has been ruled out for the fourth straight game based on the official injury report issued on Tuesday. His absence has significantly impacted the Warriors’ offensive dynamics as they struggle with an average of 17 turnovers per game and a shooting percentage of just 36% from beyond the arc in this series.
The challenges have also extended to starting guard Brandin Podziemski, who has faced difficulties shooting, going 9 for 40 overall, including only 3 for 17 from three-point range, and accumulating a mere 30 points throughout the series.
Curry’s gradual recovery offers the Warriors a light of hope in what has been a challenging playoff run marred by injuries. The team remains focused on rallying together to optimize their performance while they await Curry’s return.
