Cuban Men’s National Volleyball Team continues to showcase their impressive performance at the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in Gdansk, Poland, where they recorded a surprising victory against the host country Poland, winning 3-1. This match, held on the second day of the third week of preliminary matches, saw Cuba secure their triumph with scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, and 26-24.
Despite facing challenges, including committing 36 errors compared to Poland’s 25, Cuba managed to outshine their opponents in other key areas, excelling in attacks (55 points to Poland’s 43), blocks (10 to 6), and serves (8 to 4). Marlon Yant led the Cuban side with a remarkable performance, scoring 18 points, and was well-supported by teammates Jose Masso (15 points), Captain Miguel Angel Lopez (12 points), and Javier Concepcion (10 points). For Poland, Kewin Saak and Tomasz Formal were the standout players, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.
Cuba’s victory places them in seventh position in the league standings, boasting six wins and four losses, while Poland sits fourth with seven wins. Looking ahead, Cuba’s next match is against France, another strong contender, and they are aiming to secure a place in the top eight of the VNL, improving upon their ninth-place finish from the previous edition.
