CSUN Men’s Basketball Opens 2025-26 with Dominant Win; O’Garro’s Five Blocks Highlight Season Opener

The CSUN Men’s Basketball team kicked off their 2025-26 season with an impressive display, dominating Nobel University with a decisive 99-58 victory at Premier America Credit Union Arena. The Matadors showcased their offensive prowess and defensive strength, moving to a 1-0 record while the Knights fell to 1-1 in an exhibition match.

From the start, CSUN made it clear that they meant business, jumping out to an early advantage. The team shot 42.3 percent from the field and hit 37.9 percent of their three-point attempts, going 11-of-29 from beyond the arc. They also excelled at the free-throw line, converting 22-of-31 attempts for a 71.0 percent success rate. A standout statistic was their rebounding dominance, outpacing Nobel 60-35, and scoring significantly in the paint with a 42-20 advantage.

Five Matadors had double-digit scoring performances, led by Hughes with 20 points, while Fofana and Evans contributed 10 points each. Notably, O’Garro had a remarkable defensive performance, recording five blocks—the highest since Lamine Diane achieved the same feat in 2020. Davis was pivotal as well, dishing out a team-high eight assists, along with seven points and five rebounds.

CSUN delivered a powerful first half, highlighted by a 15-0 run that propelled them to a 48-22 lead at halftime. The Matadors knocked down seven three-pointers in the first half, establishing a comfortable cushion early on. They continued their momentum into the second half, quickly extending their lead to 56-23.
