Crunchyroll has announced the English dub cast for the highly anticipated anime adaptation of the light novel series, “Sentenced to Be a Hero.” The English dub is set to premiere on January 3, coinciding with the show’s Japanese debut and the Japanese dub release, which will be available on platforms like Amazon Prime Video at the same time.

The cast for the English dub includes Abigail Blythe, Kelly Greenshield, Peyton Howard, Joshua Hires, Tom Aglio, Mauricio Ortiz-Segura, Alex Hanback, Brandon Acosta, Eli Farmer, Abi Kumar, Conner Allison, and Seth Magill. Fans can look forward to a well-rounded performance from this talented group.

The anime is being directed by Hiroyuki Takashima, known for his work on “Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation,” with Yoshitake Nakakōji serving as the assistant director. Kenta Ihara is in charge of writing and supervising the series’ scripts, while Takeshi Noda is responsible for character designs. The music for the series will be composed by Shunsuke Takizawa, with Nobutaka Ike credited for worldbuilding and Kouta Sugawa as prop designer. The theme song “Kill the Noise” will be performed by the popular band SPYAIR.

Originally scheduled to premiere in October, the release was delayed, but fans can rejoice that the first episode will be a special 60-minute presentation airing at 10:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX. Future episodes will continue to air on Thursdays, with the second episode set for January 15.

The storyline of “Sentenced to Be a Hero” brings a unique twist to the fantasy genre, exploring themes of heroism and punishment. The narrative centers around individuals condemned to fight on the front lines against a demon king’s army, facing the possibility of revival should they perish in battle. The plot thickens when the leader of these condemned heroes forms a pivotal bond with a goddess, which could ultimately reshape their fates.

The light novel series launched in October 2020 and is part of a broader universe that includes a manga adaptation, which is also making waves in the English-speaking market. BookWalker Global is set to release the manga digitally, while Yen Press is expected to handle its print release beginning in June 2026.

This exciting announcement not only highlights the growing popularity of the series but also the increasing interest in English-dubbed anime, making it more accessible to global audiences. Fans eagerly await its debut, which promises to blend action, fantasy, and a thought-provoking narrative into an enthralling viewing experience.
