The National Cricket Women’s League is on the verge of an exhilarating conclusion as it heads into the final round of pool games, starting tomorrow for teams from Suva and Nadi, culminating in finals set for next Saturday. The matches in Suva will unfold at Albert Park, while Denarau Oval will host the Nadi competition.

Currently, the defending champions, Nausori Majidez, hold the lead in pool 1 after securing victories in both of their matches in December 2025. They are set to face Moce in their last pool game tomorrow. In pool 2, last season’s runner-up, Black Ducks, stands at the top and will compete against the Ono-i-Lau Sixers this week to finalize the leading team as the pool rounds conclude.

In the Nadi Women’s League, a thrilling matchup is anticipated between the Saunivalu Hurricanes and Nadi Development, both vying for the top spot leading into the finals. The two top teams from both the Suva and Nadi leagues will join forces in an East vs. West local derby at Denarau Oval on January 24.

Adding to the excitement, Cricket Fiji CEO Sitiveni Rokoro has announced a national U19 women’s trial scheduled for next Wednesday at Albert Park. This event aims to select talented athletes for the World Cup qualifier in Papua New Guinea, slated for April 6-15, 2026. Young players aged between 15 and 18 years are encouraged to attend the trial at 11 am.

Rokoro has also shared key goals for Cricket Fiji in the upcoming year, including the acquisition of land for a cricket facility and office, improvements in the team’s global ranking, and enhancements to the domestic competition framework. These commitments indicate a promising future for Cricket Fiji, demonstrating a dedication to the growth and development of the sport.
