Henry Golding has provided an exciting update on the highly anticipated sequel to “Crazy Rich Asians.” During an interview with Extra while attending the premiere of “Old Guards 2” in Los Angeles on June 25, the actor confirmed that “Crazy Rich Asians 2” is actively in development.

Golding shared that he received a text from Adele Lim, the co-writer of the original film, indicating that the production team is currently working on the script. He mentioned that they are in the process of developing a pilot episode to determine the direction of the series.

The original “Crazy Rich Asians,” released in 2018, follows the story of Rachel Chu, portrayed by Constance Wu, who discovers her boyfriend Nick Young, played by Golding, comes from one of Singapore’s wealthiest families, leading to unexpected challenges.

Discussing the progress of the sequel, Golding noted that the production is trying to reunite the original crew, with plans to start shooting potentially in April. However, he acknowledged that details are not fully finalized yet, stating, “Everything has not been set in stone so there’s still lots of moving parts and hopefully we can get it going.”

In another interview with E! News, Golding emphasized Lim’s importance, calling her the showrunner and highlighting her recent meetings in London with him and Gemma Chan to discuss their characters.

Director Jon M. Chu also hinted that the sequel will take an episodic format, emphasizing that he would only return to the project if the script meets high standards.

This update brings hope to fans eagerly awaiting more from the franchise, showcasing the commitment of the creative team to deliver a thoughtful and engaging sequel. The collaborative efforts and excitement among the cast and crew suggest that “Crazy Rich Asians 2” could be a significant continuation of the beloved story.
