Cowboys vs. Giants: Who Will Ignite Their Fantasy Football Season?

You can catch Thursday Night Football featuring the Dallas Cowboys against the New York Giants at 8:20 p.m. ET/5:20 p.m. PT on Amazon Prime Video.

This week, the spotlight shifts from the AFC East to the NFC East as the Cowboys and Giants, who have a long-standing rivalry, come together in prime time. Although calling this match a true rivalry may be stretching it, as the Cowboys have dominated the NFC East for much of Dak Prescott’s tenure, while the Giants continue to struggle.

In fantasy football discussions, two star wide receivers are at the forefront—CeeDee Lamb and Malik Nabers. Lamb was a top candidate for the number one overall pick this summer, especially given the injury struggles of other candidates. Meanwhile, Nabers, drafted in the middle rounds, faced skepticism about his potential due to uncertainties surrounding Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones.

Through the first three weeks of the season, Nabers has proven to be a standout, leading all wide receivers in targets and production, while Lamb has fallen into a less favorable WR19 ranking. Lamb has recorded 24 total targets and just 13 receptions, which is insufficient for a player expected to be a top fantasy performer. The Cowboys’ lack of depth in the receiving department, with injuries to other players like Jake Ferguson, hints at their offensive struggles.

Following a disappointing loss to the Ravens in Week 3, the Cowboys are expected to come back strong against the Giants. If New York hopes to upset Dallas, maintaining high target rates for Nabers will be essential. However, the Cowboys could benefit from increasing targets to their star receiver, Lamb, which might lead to a much-needed breakout performance.

Another storyline to watch is the performance of running back Rico Dowdle, who has started to seize the RB1 position for the Cowboys. After criticism for neglecting the running back spot in the offseason, Dallas has struggled, averaging one of the lowest rushing yard totals in the league. Dowdle has shown promise, out-carrying Ezekiel Elliott, and if he continues to gain more opportunities, he could provide a significant boost to the team.

On the Giants’ side, Devin Singletary could be a valuable flex option. Despite not being the most glamorous choice, his consistent production and ability to score touchdowns make him a player to consider starting, especially with the struggles of the Cowboys’ run defense. With his current form, he might well secure another touchdown to help manage the clock and keep Dallas’ offense at bay.
