Cowboys vs Commanders: Jake Ferguson Sparks Offense as Haley Cavinder Shows Support

Jake Ferguson and the Dallas Cowboys are gearing up to face the Washington Commanders this weekend, aiming to claim the No. 2 position in the NFC East standings. Despite boasting the top offense in the league, the Cowboys’ season record stands at 2-3-1, largely attributed to their struggling defense, which has faced significant challenges throughout the season.

In a show of support, Ferguson’s fiancée, Haley Cavinder, who is a former basketball star at the University of Miami, traveled to Arlington to cheer on the team at AT&T Stadium. Cavinder took to Instagram to share a memorable moment with Ferguson’s mother, Dawn Alvarez Thomas. Both women were dressed in matching mustard-colored tops featuring the number #87, representing the Cowboys’ tight end. In her post, Cavinder expressed her enthusiasm, writing: “TEAM FERGYYYYYY.. let’s go cowboys ☺️.”

Ferguson and Cavinder began dating in September 2023 while she was taking a break from her collegiate sports career and he was in his second season in the NFL. The couple got engaged in April of this year and has plans to tie the knot in late spring or early summer 2026.

On the field, Jake Ferguson has emerged as a key target for Dak Prescott this season. He has recorded 44 receptions, ranking him fourth in the NFL for this statistical category. With 305 receiving yards—making him the second-highest receiver on the Cowboys roster—Ferguson has also tallied four touchdowns, placing him seventh in the league. While he is only 189 yards short of surpassing his yardage from last season, his best performance remains the 761 yards he achieved in 2023, during which he made his Pro Bowl debut with five touchdowns on 71 receptions.

The support from family and loved ones, combined with Ferguson’s impressive performance on the field, provides a hopeful outlook for the Cowboys as they strive to improve their standing. The upcoming game against the Commanders serves not only as a critical match for team dynamics but also as an event filled with personal significance for Ferguson and his supporters.
