Cowboys’ Last-Minute Heroics Topple Steelers in Thrilling Victory

The Dallas Cowboys secured a hard-fought victory on Sunday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers, thanks to a critical touchdown pass from Dak Prescott.

With just 20 seconds remaining, Prescott connected for his second touchdown of the day, sealing the game with a 20-17 win. Although he struggled with three turnovers—two interceptions and a fumble—Prescott finished with 352 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Running back Rico Dowdle contributed significantly with 87 yards on 20 carries. Steelers quarterback Justin Fields completed 15 of 27 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns while adding 27 rushing yards.

In the first half, it seemed the Cowboys should have been ahead by more than just three points. Prescott and the offense managed to gain 202 total yards before halftime, with Prescott completing 15 of 20 passes for 188 yards. However, the first half was marred by his fumble and a costly interception that disrupted two promising drives.

Dallas’s defense performed admirably, limiting the Steelers to only 89 total yards and three points despite several injuries to key players.

Here are the key scoring plays from the game:

In the final quarter, with just 20 seconds on the clock, Prescott directed a methodical 15-play, 70-yard drive, culminating in a touchdown pass to Jalen Tolbert, giving the Cowboys a three-point lead.

Earlier in the fourth quarter, the Steelers briefly took the lead with a touchdown pass from Fields to tight end Pat Freiermuth, converting on several critical third and fourth downs during a 12-play, 63-yard drive.

The Cowboys had previously reclaimed the lead after a long 16-play, 90-yard drive, which ended with Prescott hitting Dowdle for a 22-yard touchdown.

Following halftime, the Steelers opened with a successful six-play, 72-yard drive, capped off by a 16-yard touchdown pass to Connor Heyward. This score marked the Steelers’ first lead of the night.

At halftime, the Cowboys held a slender 6-3 advantage despite Prescott’s two turnovers, showcasing the defense’s strong performance.

The game began with a 55-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey, putting the Cowboys on the board early.

Looking ahead, the Cowboys’ upcoming schedule includes matchups against high-caliber teams as they navigate the remainder of the season, starting with a game against the Detroit Lions.
