Cowboys Face Tough Road Ahead Without Prescott: What’s Next?

The Dallas Cowboys have confirmed that star quarterback Dak Prescott will not return for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury sustained in Week 9. As announced by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Prescott has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Prescott, who secured a four-year, $240 million contract extension before the start of the season, struggled to find his rhythm, posting 1,978 passing yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions over the course of eight games. This performance marks a notable downturn from the previous season, when he achieved 4,516 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions. The team’s current record of 3-6 puts further pressure on them as they seek to right the ship in the remaining games.

With Prescott on the sidelines, the Cowboys are looking to veteran quarterback Cooper Rush, who has been a backup to Prescott for the past seven years. However, Rush had a rough outing in his first start of the season, completing just 13 of 23 passes for a mere 45 yards, alongside two lost fumbles.

The Cowboys are set to face off against the Houston Texans on Monday night, a crucial game as they aim to regain momentum and salvage their season. Although the challenge is significant, there remains hope within the organization that both players and fans can rally together in the face of adversity. With Prescott’s future in mind, the team and its supporters look forward to a comeback in the upcoming seasons as he strives to return stronger than ever in 2025.
