The Dallas Cowboys will finish the season without their star quarterback, Dak Prescott, following a hamstring injury he sustained in Week 9. The team officially placed Prescott on season-ending injured reserve on Monday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
This season has not gone as Prescott envisioned, even before the injury. In eight games, he amassed 1,978 passing yards, with 11 touchdowns but also threw eight interceptions. This performance marked a noticeable decline from the previous year, where he achieved 4,516 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and just nine interceptions.
Though Prescott cannot change his 2024 stats now, he is determined to return stronger, aiming to lead the Cowboys to success in the 2025 season.
In the meantime, the Cowboys will need to regroup without Prescott as they attempt to recover from a challenging start, currently standing at 3-6 after a recent defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles. They face a demanding matchup against the Houston Texans on Monday night.
With Prescott out, the Cowboys are looking to Cooper Rush, a veteran quarterback who has been a backup to Prescott. Rush’s initial start this season left much to be desired, as he completed only 13 of 23 passes for a mere 45 yards and lost two fumbles.
As the Cowboys push through this tough time, fans can hold onto hope that they have a resilient team capable of overcoming adversity. This situation could provide Rush an opportunity to grow and perhaps unearth unforeseen talent within the roster. While the season is challenging, the focus can shift to future seasons where, with Prescott’s return and refreshed strategies, the Cowboys may rise to their former glory.
