The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly looking to bolster their defensive lineup following the trade of Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers before the 2025 NFL season kicked off. According to former ESPN anchor Trey Wingo, the Cowboys have expressed interest in acquiring Maxx Crosby, a standout pass-rusher for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Wingo, who shares insights on his podcast, noted that while the Cowboys have made inquiries regarding Crosby’s availability, there has been no confirmation on whether the Raiders are interested in pursuing a trade for the 28-year-old player.
Crosby has been a vital asset for the Raiders since being drafted in the fourth round in 2019. He has consistently performed at a high level, earning Pro Bowl selections for the past four years. As of now, he has amassed four sacks, 28 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, an interception, and a forced fumble over the first seven games of the season. He also recently signed a lucrative three-year, $106.5 million contract extension, keeping him with the Raiders through 2029.
Despite these impressive credentials, the Raiders have struggled early in the season, accumulating a disappointing 2-5 record. Even with key additions like quarterback Geno Smith and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty, coupled with head coach Pete Carroll’s leadership, the team’s playoff aspirations appear dim. This context raises questions about whether the Raiders might consider trading Crosby, even so soon after extending his contract.
On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys currently sit with a 3-3-1 record. Offensively, they have excelled, leading the league with an average of 390.6 total yards per game and ranking second with 31.7 points per game. Quarterback Dak Prescott, along with weapons like CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Javonte Williams, and Jake Ferguson, has put together a unit that many consider capable of contending for the Super Bowl.
However, the Cowboys’ defense has struggled significantly without Parsons, ranking last in total yardage allowed at 401.6 per game and 30th in scoring defense, allowing 29.4 points per game. With only 15 sacks to their name this season, the absence of a consistent pass-rushing threat has been glaring.
Adding Crosby to their roster could potentially transform the Cowboys’ defensive performance, providing a much-needed presence in the absence of Parsons and setting the stage for a stronger showing as the season progresses. The evolving dynamics of both teams suggest that a potential deal could reshape their respective futures.
