Artem Chigvintsev and Nikki Garcia recently marked their two-year wedding anniversary with heartfelt messages for each other. The couple, who share a son, initially crossed paths while partnered on “Dancing With the Stars,” and their relationship continued to thrive beyond the dance floor.
However, Chigvintsev was arrested on the morning of August 29 in Northern California following a 911 call about domestic violence, according to Officer Henry Wofford. Details regarding the alleged victim have not been disclosed.
A representative for Garcia, age 40, stated, “This is a private matter, and Nikki asks for privacy for her and her family at this time.” Meanwhile, Chigvintsev’s representative has not responded to media inquiries about the incident. The couple has not publicly addressed the arrest yet.
Before his arrest, Chigvintsev posted wedding day photos on Instagram, expressing his love: “Happy anniversary my love, can’t see my life without you. You are my everything.” Garcia, formerly known as Nikki Bella, also celebrated their anniversary with a video compilation set to “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” sharing her emotional connection to their romance in the caption.
The couple’s love story began in 2017 when they were paired on “Dancing With the Stars.” They were eliminated in week seven but sparked dating rumors in March 2019. By July of that year, they confirmed their relationship during a podcast episode, with Garcia revealing, “We’re boyfriend and girlfriend.”
Chigvintsev proposed in November 2019, and the couple announced their engagement in January 2020. They welcomed their son, Matteo, on July 31, 2020, and got married on August 26, 2022.
Garcia recently mentioned her thoughts on possibly having a second child but noted they may stay a family of three for now, as her son enjoys being an only child. She also shared that Matteo has shown interest in dance and is now signed up for classes, revealing his love for dancing.
