Could Tropical Storm Jerry Be Next? Atlantic Disturbance Triggers Storm Watch

Currently, there are signs of potential tropical storm formation in the Atlantic, with the next storm to be named Jerry if it develops. On Sunday, October 5, 2025, meteorologists were monitoring a broad area of low pressure linked to a tropical wave, referred to as Invest 95L (AL95) by the National Hurricane Center in Miami. This system is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms in the coasts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, although its likelihood of development is considered low due to strong upper-level winds.

This year’s Atlantic hurricane season, which spans from June 1 to November 30, has already witnessed several hurricanes and tropical storms; however, none have made landfall. The hurricane center indicated that a tropical wave currently in the open Atlantic shows a medium chance of forming into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours, and a high chance within the next week.

Invest 95L, located several hundred miles south-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, has favorable environmental conditions for development. Forecasters are optimistic that a tropical depression could form quickly as the system advances across the central tropical Atlantic toward the Leeward Islands later this week.

The National Hurricane Center continues to provide updates on tropical activity, with daily advisories issued during hurricane season. This includes monitoring current weather conditions and potential storm paths.

As residents and visitors in Florida prepare for the possibility of tropical weather, staying informed through alerts and localized weather services will be crucial. The season is still active, and with continued vigilance, communities can remain prepared for any developments in the tropics.
