The Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly interviewing former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll for their vacant offensive coordinator position. Daboll, who was dismissed by the Giants after a disappointing 2-8 start in his fourth season with the team, has a proven track record as an offensive coordinator, most notably with the Buffalo Bills.
During his tenure in Buffalo, Daboll led the Bills to remarkable achievements, including a second-place ranking in points per game, total yards, and yards per game in 2020, setting a franchise record with 501 points. His innovative offensive strategies earned him the AP Assistant Coach of the Year title that same year. The following season, Buffalo’s offense continued to impress, ranking first in yards per play, third in points scored, and fifth in total yards.
Daboll’s extensive experience extends to previous roles with the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, and the University of Alabama, where he played a key role in securing a national championship in 2017. Additionally, his remarkable coaching career includes five Super Bowl championships won as an assistant coach with the New England Patriots.
Given Daboll’s expertise in developing quarterbacks, particularly his success with Josh Allen in Buffalo, he is seen as a strong candidate to enhance the skills of Chargers’ quarterback Justin Herbert.
