The University of Houston Women’s Golf team has celebrated recent academic achievements as three of its golfers—Megan Kang, Jinny Kim, and Lily Saint Germain—were recognized as Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars for the 2024-25 academic year. Each athlete maintained a stellar cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher while participating in over half of the team’s competitive rounds this season. This noteworthy accomplishment marks the third consecutive year and fourth out of the last five that three Cougars have been named to this prestigious list.
Their academic success mirrors their athletic prowess. The trio played a significant role in leading the Cougars to the NCAA Regional for the third straight season, in addition to clinching three team tournament championships during the regular season, matching a single-season school record.
Megan Kang, who is wrapping up her collegiate journey, transferred from the University of Hawai’i and received her bachelor’s degree in economics in May. A four-time WGCA All-American Scholar, Kang has been a consistent performer, achieving three Top 20 finishes during the spring season, including a notable 11th-place finish at the Riverbend Intercollegiate, contributing to the team’s championship victory.
Jinny Kim, a sophomore majoring in pre-business administration, had an impressive season, finishing second on the team with 16 rounds at par or better, including five rounds under 70. Her standout performances included several Top-20 finishes, highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the Riverbend Intercollegiate.
Lily Saint Germain, also pursuing a degree in pre-business administration, showcased her consistency throughout the season, achieving a 72.73 scoring average with five rounds at par or lower. She celebrated five Top-15 finishes and tied for fourth at the Riverbend Intercollegiate, contributing significantly to the team’s success. Saint Germain was honored with a spot on the Big 12 Championships All-Tournament Team for her commendable performance.
This season’s accomplishments go beyond the golf course, with the athletes also being recognized for their academic achievements. Their inclusion in the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team reflects their dedication to both academics and athletics.
Supporters of the University of Houston Women’s Golf program are encouraged to get involved through initiatives like Linking Coogs—UH’s NIL collective—and the P.A.R. 4 Club, which provides essential financial backing for the team’s needs beyond the standard operating budget.
By excelling both in academics and athletics, these student-athletes exemplify the spirit and dedication of the University of Houston Women’s Golf team, promising a bright future ahead for the program.
