Costco, the world’s third-largest retailer, will close all its locations across the United States on Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day 2025. This holiday, celebrated on the last Monday in May, is dedicated to honoring military service members who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the nation.

The company operates over 600 warehouses nationwide and observes Memorial Day as one of seven specific holidays during which its stores remain closed. Other closure days include New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Founded in Seattle in 1983, Costco has grown significantly and currently ranks behind only Walmart and Amazon in revenue, according to the National Retail Federation. Notably, unlike Costco, Walmart plans to keep its stores open with standard operating hours on Memorial Day.

This year, as Memorial Day approaches, it serves as a reminder of the service and sacrifices made by countless individuals. It is also an opportunity for communities to come together and participate in various activities to honor these heroes.

In other related news, Costco continues to maintain its commitment to providing quality products and services to its members while adhering to important national observances. As the holiday weekend nears, customers are encouraged to plan ahead for their shopping needs, taking into account the temporary closure.
