CEO Ron Vachris expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming app enhancements, stating, “We’ve got ordering cakes and deli trays online coming. So many of the things that we’ve heard from our members that could be a little bit clunky are now moving to a digital state, and we’re seeing great adoption right out of the chute.”

The new online system will offer sheet cake options and customizable cakes, allowing customers to select from a range of sizes, shapes, flavors, designs, and inscriptions. While Costco hasn’t provided a specific launch date for all locations, reports suggest that customers can anticipate the “Order Grocery/Bakery” feature to be available within the app by the end of 2026. If the process mirrors the existing paper system, customers can expect their cakes and deli trays ready for pickup within 24 to 48 hours.

This upgrade is particularly beneficial for customers who live far from Costco locations.
