Ethan Hawke, an Oscar-nominated actor, leads the cast in “The Lowdown,” a compelling new TV series that delves into the theme of corruption in Tulsa. The show, created by Oklahoma native Sterlin Harjo, is set to debut on September 23.

“The Lowdown” centers around Lee Raybon, a citizen journalist and historian, who juggles his job at a bookstore while uncovering and revealing instances of corruption within the city. This crime noir drama was formerly titled “The Sensitive Kind” and builds on Harjo’s previous collaboration with Hawke on the acclaimed series “Reservation Dogs.”

Highlighting the local talent, the cast includes notable actors like Kyle MacLachlan, Keith David, and Tim Blake Nelson, who also hails from Oklahoma. The series was filmed in various locations around Tulsa and throughout Oklahoma last year, showcasing the region’s vibrant culture and setting.

With eight episodes launching on FX and Hulu, “The Lowdown” promises to offer a gripping narrative combined with an authentic sense of place, reflecting both the positive and challenging aspects of community life in Tulsa.

This series could not only entertain but also spark conversations about civic responsibility and the importance of journalism in democratic society. It is encouraging to see stories that reflect real issues being told through engaging narratives.
