Fiona Corcoran, a dedicated philanthropist and founder of the Greater Chernobyl Cause, has been honored as the Cork Person of the Month for October. This recognition highlights her two decades of commitment to improving the lives of individuals affected by nuclear radiation and conflict.

Through her organization, the Greater Chernobyl Cause, Ms. Corcoran has played a pivotal role in the construction and renovation of orphanages and hospices, along with providing critical domestic appliances and medical equipment to those in need. Awards organizer Manus O’Callaghan praised Ms. Corcoran as “a driving force” behind Irish initiatives aimed at supporting the most disadvantaged communities in the former Soviet Union.
