Corey Heim, the driver for 23XI Racing and TRICON Garage, shared his excitement about racing at Kansas Speedway during a media availability session on Saturday ahead of the NASCAR race weekend. Heim, who will be competing in both the Truck Series and the Cup Series, expressed his enthusiasm about the opportunity to race at his favorite track and pursue a potential third consecutive victory in the Truck Series.
“I’m definitely really excited. This is actually my favorite track, so to be back here is awesome,” Heim said. He also noted the significance of running under the 23XI Racing banner with the Robinhood sponsorship, which aligns with his own experiences as a young investor.
Heim reflected on his preparation for the races, saying, “I don’t set rock solid goals…just preparing to the best of my ability and executing to the best of my ability” is what he aims for. He previously filled in for Erik Jones last year but emphasized focusing on improving his performance during this race.
Having competed multiple times at Kansas in lower series, Heim feels comfortable and ready for the challenges ahead. He mentioned that his extensive experience at this track contributes to his readiness, saying that it alleviates the stress of preparation involved in his previous Cup debut.
He also participated in a notable crossover event by throwing out the first pitch at a Kansas City Royals game, an experience he found both thrilling and nerve-wracking. Heim stated that building connections between NASCAR and other sports is essential to expanding their fan base.
Moreover, Heim has been actively involved with 23XI Racing’s analytics and simulation departments, valuing the opportunity to work with experts like John Vining and Keegan Leahy to hone his skills in the Cup car. He expressed confidence about the upcoming races in Nashville and hopes for more intermediate tracks on the Truck Series schedule to further enhance his growth as a driver. He noted, “I think a lot of it comes back to how good our 11 team is in the Truck side right now…when you are winning races and competing very consistently it’s fun.”
