Corey Conners has officially withdrawn from the 2025 U.S. Open before his final round, which was scheduled for 10:20 a.m. EDT on Sunday. The decision comes as a result of a right wrist injury he suffered during the third round on Saturday.
According to reports from Sportsnet’s Adam Stanley, the injury occurred after Conners encountered a challenging situation in a greenside bunker on the 11th hole, from which he hit his ball out of a plugged lie. Afterward, he took the maximum time to wait for medical personnel to assess his wrist. Following some treatment on the 12th tee, Conners completed his round with a score of 72, finishing strongly on the front nine with a score of 32 but struggling on the back nine, where he shot 40. By the end of his round, he was at 8 over overall as he prepared for his Sunday tee time alongside fellow golfer Ryan Fox.
Michael Kim, a fellow PGA Tour pro who played with Conners in the third round, highlighted Conners’ strong performance prior to the injury, indicating that he was playing well despite his wrist troubles, which had lingered since the first round. Unfortunately, the incident on Saturday exacerbated his condition, and although Conners tried to warm up on Sunday, he found himself unable to continue due to pain.
Last year, Conners secured a T-9 finish at Pinehurst No. 2, marking his best performance in a U.S. Open. The injury withdrawal is disappointing, but it’s hopeful that with proper care and recovery, Conners will return to the course stronger in future tournaments.
Overall, despite the setback, Conners has shown resilience in the face of challenges, and his past achievements in high-stakes tournaments like the U.S. Open suggest that he has the determination to bounce back.
