BOSTON — In a heartfelt moment for Red Sox manager Alex Cora, he will be absent from the team’s Monday game to celebrate a significant milestone: his daughter Camila Cora’s graduation from Boston College. Bench coach Ramón Vázquez will take the helm as the Red Sox begin a three-game series against the Mets at Fenway Park.
Camila is graduating from the Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences at BC and looks forward to continuing her academic journey at the University of Miami, following in her father’s footsteps.
Reflecting on this proud moment, Alex Cora expressed his gratitude towards Camila’s mother, Nilda, for her unwavering support throughout their daughter’s education. He highlighted, “It went really fast,” admiring the strong bond Camila shares with both her parents and her partner, Angelica, who he noted has played a mentor-like role in her life.
Cora reminisced about special moments shared with Camila, including celebrating the Red Sox’s 2018 World Series victory at Dodger Stadium and her participation in the celebration of the team’s ALDS Game 4 win against the Rays during her college years. He mentioned the bittersweet fast pace of time: “You put everything in perspective… she’s a woman now. The future is bright for her and we’re very proud of her.”
This occasion marks not only a milestone in Camila’s life but also showcases the strong family bonds and support systems that have shaped her path. It’s a testament to the balance that many parents strive to achieve between professional commitments and family milestones.
