COP30 Spotlight: LONGi Unveils Renewable Infinity for a Net-Zero World

BELÉM, Brazil, November 15 – The 30th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change continued in full swing today in Belém, Pará, a key area of Brazil’s Amazon rainforest. LONGi, a prominent green energy technology company, made a significant impact at the conference with a keynote speech delivered by its Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Li Zhenguo. This key address, titled “Beyond Solar, Building a Resilient Zero-Carbon World,” focused on the urgent need for collaboration in addressing climate change.

In his speech, Li emphasized the remarkable reduction in solar power generation costs, which have plummeted by over 90% in the past decade, rendering it the most cost-effective energy source in many parts of the world. This development serves as a critical foundation for accelerating the global shift toward renewable energy. With global temperatures nearing the crucial 1.5°C limit, the outcomes from COP30 will play a pivotal role in shaping climate action for the coming decade. However, Li cautioned that a mere reliance on clean energy generation would not be enough to create a stable, resilient zero-carbon energy system.

He highlighted the challenge of energy volatility as a crucial issue that must be addressed, asserting that LONGi envisions a future in which a combination of photovoltaics (Solar PV), energy storage, and hydrogen—referred to as “Renewable Infinity”—will be vital in establishing a self-sustaining energy ecosystem by 2050.

The urgency of combating climate change has never been clearer, as the unsustainable use of fossil fuels has led to frequent extreme weather occurrences, geopolitical tensions, and resource competition. The “Beyond Solar” initiative reflects LONGi’s understanding that a multifaceted approach is essential for achieving a global zero-carbon vision. By integrating Solar PV, energy storage, and hydrogen, a more robust and resilient energy system can be constructed.

Li pointed out that the energy transition is key to achieving global net-zero emissions by 2050, but the world faces a significant “trilemma” of balancing energy security, equity, and environmental sustainability. As the International Energy Agency projects that clean energy will be the largest energy source by the mid-2030s, the growth of renewable energy, particularly solar and wind, signifies a major shift towards a more sustainable energy model.

LONGi’s ambition goes beyond traditional solar power generation. The company aims to fuse green electricity production, energy storage, and hydrogen technology into an accessible energy ecosystem that benefits everyone. Li discussed three pivotal technological developments that will support this vision: the advancement of solar technology into smart, integrated systems; the crucial role of energy storage in maintaining grid stability amidst rapid renewable energy growth; and the promise of green hydrogen as a key component for deep decarbonization, especially in challenging sectors like aviation and shipping.

To realize the concept of “Renewable Infinity,” LONGi outlined six guiding principles: prioritizing innovation for continuous energy renewal, creating an energy circular system that mimics natural ecosystems, ensuring synergy between solar, storage, and hydrogen systems, leveraging digital solutions for optimization, promoting global collaboration, and ensuring that the benefits of clean energy reach all communities.

LONGi is committed to leading the global transition to a new energy paradigm termed “Beyond Solar,” where energy systems operate within closed loops rather than extractively. This transition represents a shift not only in technology but also in how society views energy—transforming it from a privilege into a basic human right and fostering a culture centered on regeneration rather than extraction.

Founded in 2000, LONGi has emerged as a leader in solar technology, focusing on customer value creation for comprehensive energy transformations. With operations in over 160 countries, LONGi is dedicated to accelerating the transition to sustainable energy, advancing energy equity, and ensuring affordable clean energy access for more people worldwide.
