Dallas Mavericks rookie forward Cooper Flagg has made a significant leap in the fan voting for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, securing a spot among the leaders in the Western Conference. The league revealed the latest voting results on Tuesday, showcasing Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Dončić and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo as the frontrunners in their respective conferences.
Flagg, who was ranked outside the top 20 in the first voting returns on December 29, climbed to 16th place with an impressive 236,182 votes. Notably, he stands out as the only first-year player featured in the leaderboard that determines the starting lineups for the milestone 75th All-Star Game.
Over his 35 games with the Mavericks, Flagg has delivered strong performances, averaging 18.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 47.6% from the field. His scoring ranks him second among his fellow rookies, and he has notably recorded three 30-point games this season.
While Flagg faces a tough challenge in becoming an All-Star, given that no rookie has been selected since Blake Griffin in 2011, his contributions have certainly made a mark. Historically, only 45 rookies have received this prestigious honor. Regardless of the All-Star outcome, he is expected to achieve a spot in the Rising Stars Game, which will take place during the All-Star weekend in Inglewood, California.
Fans can continue to cast their votes for the All-Star Game until January 14 at 11:59 p.m. EST, with the announcement of the starting lineups scheduled for a later date. Cooper Flagg’s rise in the voting reflects not only his talent but also the support he has garnered from fans, making this a hopeful time for the promising young player.
