Cooper DeJean, emerging as one of the NFL’s standout players, has recently shared his passion for dogs alongside his impressive football journey. As a finalist for the Defensive Rookie of the Year and a member of the Top 100 players heading into the 2025 season, DeJean has become a beloved figure in the league. Known for his versatility, he has earned the nickname “Swiss Army Knife” among fans and analysts alike.
During the summer’s training camp, DeJean featured prominently in an episode of “Days Off,” presented by Hills Pet Official. The segment showcased his bond with his dog, Maverick, highlighting how he prioritizes their time together, ensuring Mav receives the necessary nutrients for a healthy and joyful life.
Now three months later, the Philadelphia Eagles stand tall with an 8-2 record and are gearing up for a crucial game against the Dallas Cowboys. Ahead of practice this Wednesday, DeJean took a moment to chat with The Eagles Wire about his beloved canine companion and his development into one of the best Nickel cornerbacks in the NFL. As he prepares for his 27th career NFL game this Sunday, he reflected on his encounters with some of the league’s top wide receivers.
When asked about his toughest opponent so far, DeJean pointed out former LSU teammates Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson as his biggest challenges on the field. “Outside of our guys in practice, I’d probably say Jamar Chase and Justin Jefferson, those two really talented receivers are probably the toughest I’ve had to line up against so far,” he noted.
DeJean elaborated that both receivers possess a remarkable ability to create separation and excel after the catch, underscoring their considerable skill. In a notable win against the Minnesota Vikings, the Eagles managed to limit Jefferson to just five catches for 79 yards. Last season, DeJean faced Chase, where the Eagles allowed him nine catches for 54 yards and a touchdown, emerging victorious in both encounters.
This current season is no easy ride for DeJean, as he has already faced off against an impressive lineup, including CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Davante Adams, among others. His recognition of Chase and Jefferson as formidable challenges showcases the talent he consistently encounters, signaling his own growth in an increasingly competitive league.
DeJean’s passion for both football and dogs paints a picture of a determined athlete who values the joy of companionship alongside his professional pursuits. Fans can look forward to seeing more from him as the Eagles aim for the playoffs, hoping his dedication continues to shine on and off the field.
