Day 3 of the 2024 Democratic National Convention is underway at the United Center in Chicago, featuring a varied lineup of speakers. Here’s a recap of today’s schedule and how to tune in.
The convention begins at 5:30 p.m. CT / 6:30 p.m. ET with the following lineup:
5:30 p.m. – Call to Order by Alex Hornbrook, Executive Director of the 2024 Democratic National Convention Committee. The Honorable Sen. Cory Booker of New Jersey will officially gavel the session in. The invocation will be led by Priest Rakesh Bhat of the Sri Siva Vishnu Temple and Bishop Leah Daughtry from The House of the Lord Churches.
Students from the Moreland Arts & Health Sciences Magnet School in St. Paul, Minnesota, will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a performance of the National Anthem by Jess Davis. Honorary resolutions will be presented by Jaime Harrison, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, along with various vice chairs and notable leaders in reproductive rights and advocacy.
6:00 p.m. – The program continues with remarks from Sen. Cory Booker and other prominent figures including the mayors of Cincinnati and Milwaukee, advocacy leaders, and representatives from various states.
7:00 p.m. – Speakers will include Congress members, social media influencers, and a performance by Maren Morris.
8:00 p.m. – Mindy Kaling will host this segment featuring high-profile politicians including former President Bill Clinton and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi.
9:00 p.m. – The lineup will showcase performances by acclaimed artists such as Amanda Gorman and John Legend, alongside remarks from key political figures.
10:00 p.m. – The night will conclude with remarks from Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota and a benediction from Pastor William Emmanuel Hall.
Viewers can watch the convention live from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. CT. The Democratic National Convention is being held at the United Center located at 1901 W. Madison St., Chicago.
Additionally, for those interested, the full schedule for Day 4 on Thursday, August 22, will feature delegation meetings and main programming, starting early in the morning and culminating in a final session from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. CT.
