Clean Up The Lake held its inaugural Polar Plunge on May 10 at Lakeside Beach, which turned out to be an impressive success. Over 60 participants braved the cold to plunge into the water, and with generous financial backing, the event raised more than $31,000 for the organization’s environmental initiatives.
A significant portion of the funds came from an anonymous donor who contributed $15,000. Additional substantial donations included $5,000 from Lake Tahoe Community College and Hovatter Farms, as well as $2,500 from Lakeside Park Association, which hosted the event. Public support also played a crucial role, with over $3,000 raised from local community members.
These funds will aid Clean Up The Lake’s mission to engage local communities in efforts to protect the environment, both in the water and on land. The organization’s commitment to environmental stewardship highlights the importance of collective action for a sustainable future.
For those who wish to contribute, donations are still welcomed and are tax-deductible. With ongoing support, Clean Up The Lake can continue to inspire and mobilize the community to take part in preserving their beloved lake.
It’s encouraging to see such community involvement and generosity, paving the way for future initiatives aimed at maintaining and improving the local environment.
