Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran has expressed increasing concerns regarding child neglect in the community. She points out that as parents balance work and various responsibilities, many children are becoming unfocused and lacking direction.

Kiran emphasizes the critical need for strengthening families at the grassroots level as a measure to combat these challenges. She noted, “Given the prevalence of drugs, we are deeply concerned about the wellbeing of our children and young people. Therefore, we have implemented specific parenting programs to ensure their safety and guidance.”

The minister is calling on communities, religious institutions, and traditional leaders to play an active role in supporting children and families. She acknowledges that the government cannot tackle this issue alone and appeals for a united community effort.

This proactive stance emphasizes the importance of collaboration to nurture and protect the future generation, underscoring that concerted action can lead to positive changes in the lives of children and families. By working together, society can create a more supportive environment for children, helping them thrive despite challenges they may face.
