Columbus Crew Ready for a Winner-Takes-All MLS Playoff Clash at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI – The Columbus Crew managed to stave off elimination in the MLS Cup playoffs by securing a decisive 4-0 victory over FC Cincinnati in Game 2 of their series. With this win, the Crew now head into a pivotal Game 3, which will take place in Cincinnati, with hopes of advancing to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

After suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat in Game 1 at Cincinnati, the Crew demonstrated resilience in Game 2 at Lower.com Field. Now, as the teams prepare for a crucial winner-takes-all showdown at TQL Stadium, the Crew feel confident in their ability to perform.

“It will not be the same game,” Crew defender Steven Moreira stated. “We are very good when we attack a lot, and we don’t think about the defense so much. So, we have to get there and try to do (that).”

Unfortunately for the Crew, they will be without striker Wessam Abou Ali, who is sidelined with a hairline fracture in his right ankle, and midfielder Mo Farsi, recovering from sports hernia surgery. Both players have been crucial to the team’s offense, which will require other players to step up in their absence.

FC Cincinnati’s lineup for the decisive game includes goalkeeper Roman Celentano and forwards Kevin Denkey and Brenner Souza, aimed at capitalizing on their home-field advantage. Meanwhile, the Crew will feature goalkeeper Patrick Schulte and forwards Hugo Picard and Diego Rossi, who will look to continue their strong attacking form.

Referee Chris Penso will oversee the match, with a team of officials ready to assist. Fans can tune in to the game, which kicks off at 6 p.m. on November 8, on Alt 105.7 FM for English commentary or La Grande 103.1 FM for Spanish coverage. The match will also be streamed via Apple TV for those unable to attend in person.

As the Crew gear up for this high-stakes encounter, the excitement and anticipation build. With the series tied, it’s a fresh start for both teams, and the Crew are determined to capitalize on their recent momentum. A victory would not only advance them in the playoffs but also serve as a testament to their resilience and ability to overcome adversity.
