Colorado Faces Key Injuries Ahead of High-Stakes Clash with CSU

Kickoff in Fort Collins is approaching, but Colorado is facing significant challenges as several key players will miss the primetime game against the Colorado State Rams.

Running back Dallan Hayden, who stood out in Colorado’s recent loss to Nebraska, will not play due to an undisclosed injury sustained during that game. Head coach Deion Sanders confirmed Hayden’s absence during a press conference on Tuesday. Charlie Offerdahl, Micah Welch, and Isaiah Augustave are expected to step in for him.

Free safety Shilo Sanders is also sidelined after suffering a broken forearm during an open-field tackle last week. Following surgery, Sanders is projected to be out for 2-3 weeks. Carter Stoutmire will take over the starting position in his absence.

Defensive tackle Chidozie Nwankwo was initially a game-time decision but has been ruled out prior to kickoff. Taurean Carter will likely start in place of Nwankwo. Fortunately, Nwankwo’s injury is not serious, and there is optimism about his return for next week’s game against Baylor.

Additionally, second-string nickel corner Isaiah Hardge will miss the game due to a foot injury sustained during a punt return in the previous match.

On a positive note, starting linebacker Lavonta Bently, who was uncertain earlier in the week, is expected to play. Bently’s presence is crucial for Colorado’s defense, especially after contributing to shutting out Nebraska in the second half last weekend.
