The Miami University women’s basketball team faced a tough challenge on Sunday afternoon, falling to the University of Colorado with a final score of 75-55. The game started with a strong performance from Colorado, which quickly took a 13-5 lead during the first media timeout after making six of their first eight shots. Although Miami made a comeback, highlighted by Ilse de Vries’ impressive three-point play, they ended the first quarter trailing 22-16.

In the second quarter, Colorado continued to assert their dominance, scoring the first 11 points before Miami found some momentum with free throws from Scalia. The Buffs maintained their lead and went into halftime ahead 43-30, thanks in part to Tamar Singer’s timely contributions, including two three-pointers in quick succession.

The second half saw Colorado open with a commanding lead of 15 points. Miami struggled to bridge the gap despite scoring efforts from players like Amber Scalia, who finished with 18 points, including six from the foul line. Although Amber Tretter extended her double-digit scoring streak to six consecutive games with her contributions, it wasn’t enough to overcome Colorado’s strong defense and strategy.

Miami’s next challenge comes on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m., when they face Green Bay at Millett Hall. The team hopes to regroup and translate their learnings from this game into a more competitive performance. With the season still young, there’s plenty of opportunity for improvement and growth as they aim to build on their 7-4 record.
