Collins’ Future with Jazz: Trade Talks Heat Up After Contract Opt-In

Utah Jazz forward John Collins has officially opted into his contract for the 2025-26 season, securing a deal worth $26.5 million, according to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania.

In his second season with the Jazz, Collins stood out by averaging a team-high 19 points over 40 games, along with 8.2 rebounds, two assists, and one block per game. His shooting efficiency was impressive as he connected on 52.7% of his attempts from the field and nearly 40% from three-point range, showcasing his versatility and scoring ability.

Had Collins chosen to decline his player option by the recent deadline, he would have entered free agency. However, with his decision to stay, the Jazz maintain a critical piece of their roster.

Despite his opt-in, Collins has been mentioned as a potential trade target this offseason. The Jazz organization appears open to exploring options to move the talented forward, who was acquired from the Atlanta Hawks two years ago as he returned to his hometown team.

The situation remains dynamic as the Jazz assess their lineup and potential trades, but Collins’ decision ensures they retain a significant contributor for at least another season. This move could provide stability as the team evaluates their direction heading into the future.
