BRYAN, Texas – A strong cold front is projected to sweep through the Brazos Valley Sunday morning, bringing a wave of showers and a significant drop in temperatures. This weather shift marks a return to brisk conditions just in time for the College Station Marathon.

The high pressure system that has dominated the area’s weather recently is expected to begin shifting over the Gulf Coast by Thursday. This change will facilitate onshore flow, providing the necessary conditions for the cold front to begin its approach on Saturday night.

As Sunday unfolds, residents of the Brazos Valley should prepare for breezy winds, which could gust up to 35 mph throughout the day. The temperature will peak at around 60° just after sunrise, with the rest of the day expected to settle into the 50s. Light to moderate showers are likely in the morning hours before the front exits the area by the afternoon. While these conditions may not be perfect for runners, they are not expected to create a complete washout.

Participants in the College Station Marathon are advised to dress warmly and consider bringing a rain jacket to stay comfortable should they encounter light rain during the event. Despite the challenging weather, the marathon promises to be an exciting event for both runners and spectators.
