Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto celebrated a significant milestone on Saturday by defeating 18-year-old American Iva Jovic 6-4, 6-4 to clinch her second career title at the WTA event in Hobart. This victory marks a remarkable achievement for Cocciaretto, who previously finished as the runner-up at the same tournament in 2023.

Ranked world No. 80, Cocciaretto showcased her impressive skills by not dropping a single set throughout the tournament after coming through qualifying rounds. In the final match, she demonstrated her dominance by hitting 21 winners compared to Jovic’s seven, while breaking serve four times and only facing two breaks herself during the 97-minute match.

Following her triumph in Hobart, Cocciaretto is set to compete in Melbourne, where she will take on Austria’s Julia Grabher in the first round of the Australian Open.

Meanwhile, Jovic, who is seeded 29th in Australia, will begin her campaign against fellow American Katie Volynets. The young player from Torrance, California has made an impressive start to her 2026 season, achieving seven wins out of nine matches, which includes a semifinal finish in Auckland and her runner-up performance in Hobart.

Cocciaretto’s success not only boosts her confidence but also highlights the promising future for both her and Jovic as they continue to carve out their profiles in the competitive world of tennis.
