Mario Goodrich, a former Clemson standout, is set to have another opportunity in the NFL as he signs with the Denver Broncos. Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 186 pounds, Goodrich’s journey has seen him transition from college football glory to a stint in the United Football League (UFL), where he has proven his mettle.
During his time with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL, Goodrich showcased his skills despite playing through injuries. In seven games, including the playoffs, he recorded 15 tackles, four pass breakups, and two key forced fumbles, one of which significantly contributed to a comeback win against the Houston Roughnecks. His physical play and a solid 66.3 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus helped catch the eye of NFL scouts once more.
Prior to his UFL experience, Goodrich spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants after going undrafted in 2022. He made appearances in four games with the Eagles, accumulating five tackles, and participated in the Giants’ 2024 preseason before being released due to injury.
At Clemson, Goodrich was an integral part of the team, playing in 47 games and contributing to a national championship victory in his freshman year. He earned first-team All-ACC honors and was named MVP of the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl in his final season, finishing with 84 tackles, 15 pass breakups, and five interceptions.
As Goodrich joins a competitive cornerback group in Denver, he is poised to fight for a place on the roster. With his proven abilities and determination, he could potentially carve out a significant role on the team. His resilience and success at Clemson pave the way for a hopeful return to the NFL, offering inspiration for aspiring athletes facing their own challenges.
