Clemson Rolls to 3-0 Start, Eyes Georgetown Road Trip

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson University men’s basketball team showcased a dominant performance on Tuesday night, defeating Morehead State with a convincing score of 83-51 at Littlejohn Coliseum. Jake Wahlin from Provo, Utah, led the Tigers with a season-high 14 points, while RJ Godfrey from Suwanee, Georgia, achieved his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The victory marked Clemson’s third consecutive win of the season, pushing their record to 3-0. The Tigers maintained control throughout the game, building a 19-point lead by halftime and extending their advantage to as much as 30 points in the second half. This victory adds to a series of impressive wins, with all three games this season decided by at least 25 points.

Ace Buckner contributed to the team’s scoring off the bench with 12 points, marking his third straight game in double figures. He shot 4-of-8 from the field and recorded five rebounds and two assists. Jestin Porter also made a significant impact with nine points, including two three-pointers.

Dillon Hunter, a standout performer, led the team with four assists while maintaining an impeccable record by not committing any turnovers. The Tigers excelled as a unit, turning the ball over just five times throughout the game, establishing a new program record for fewest turnovers in the opening three games of a season with only 14 turnovers.

Looking ahead, Clemson will embark on its first road trip of the season to face Georgetown on Saturday, November 15, with the tipoff scheduled for noon and streaming available on Peacock.

Additionally, the evening was significant for Head Coach Brad Brownell, who achieved his 295th victory at Clemson and 462nd overall in his coaching career. The Tigers’ impressive start to the season marks only the third time in program history that they have won their first three games by 25 or more points, a feat previously accomplished in the 2009-10 and 1917-18 seasons. Notable individual highlights included RJ Godfrey’s career-high seven offensive rebounds and Wahlin’s standout performance from beyond the arc.

With their current momentum, the Tigers are on a promising path as they continue their season, displaying strong teamwork and skill.
