Clark’s Injury: How Will the Fever Adjust?

Caitlin Clark, the All-Star point guard for the Indiana Fever, will miss Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks due to a left groin injury, according to the team’s announcement. Fever head coach Steph White revealed that Clark experienced pain and underwent an MRI on Wednesday evening.

“It’s very much a day-to-day thing how she responds to treatment,” said White, indicating that the team is closely monitoring her recovery. Despite this setback, she expressed confidence in Clark’s resilience and healing abilities.

Clark is coming off a recent quad injury which had previously kept her out for five games, and she has been struggling with her shooting, particularly during road games. In her last outing against the Seattle Storm, she shot 3-of-13, contributing to the team’s 94-86 victory.

To bolster their roster, the Fever have signed Aari McDonald following Clark’s injury announcement. For the season, Clark has showcased impressive averages of 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.6 steals over nine games.

The Fever (currently 7-7) will play against the Sparks (4-11) at Gainbridge Fieldhouse before heading on the road to face the Dallas Wings on Friday night. The team’s ability to adapt and compensate for Clark’s absence will be crucial as they aim for a strong finish to the season.
