Caitlin Clark, the standout rookie guard for the Indiana Fever, nearly matched her season-high points in a thrilling 100-93 comeback win over the Dallas Wings. This victory marks the Fever’s fourth consecutive win, pushing their record to 17-16 and bringing them above .500.
Clark scored 28 points, while her teammate Kelsey Mitchell led the team with a personal best of 36 points. Despite a slow start, where Clark managed just five points in the first quarter-and-a-half, she gradually found her rhythm. Meanwhile, Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale dominated the first half, scoring 24 points with five 3-pointers in the opening quarter.
Clark made history by surpassing Tamika Catchings’ franchise record for most points scored by a rookie in a single season when she recorded her 595th point during the game. Although Ogunbowale tied a WNBA record with nine 3-pointers, it was Clark’s performance in the fourth quarter that turned the tide. The Fever outscored the Wings 30-19 in that final period, with Clark hitting two crucial deep 3-pointers.
This performance came shortly after Clark scored 31 points against the Chicago Sky, marking a historic achievement as the Fever recorded 100 or more points in consecutive games for the first time in their franchise history.
In 37 minutes of play against the Wings, Clark shot 10-of-19 from the field, including 5-of-11 from three-point range. She also contributed four rebounds, 12 assists, and one steal, while facing the challenge of seven turnovers, marking her 12th double-double of the season.
