Caitlin Clark, the standout rookie guard for the Indiana Fever, came close to matching her season-high points in a thrilling 100-93 comeback win against the Dallas Wings. This victory marks the Fever’s fourth consecutive win, pushing their record to 17-16 and putting them over .500.
Clark finished the game with 28 points, though her teammate Kelsey Mitchell led the team with a career-high 36 points. Clark started the game slowly by her standards, scoring only five points in the first 15 minutes. In the first half, Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale dominated, hitting five 3-pointers in the opening quarter and racking up 24 points before halftime.
Despite her slow start, Clark continued to make history for the Fever. With her 595th point scored during the game, she broke Tamika Catchings’ franchise record for the most points scored in a single season by a rookie.
While Ogunbowale tied a single-game WNBA record with nine 3-pointers, it was Clark who led the charge in the fourth quarter. The Fever outscored the Wings 30-19 in that period, with Clark hitting two crucial deep 3-pointers that helped secure the win.
This performance follows Clark’s impressive 31-point outing against the Chicago Sky just a few days earlier. With this game, the Fever scored 100 or more points in back-to-back games for the first time in franchise history.
In 37 minutes of play against the Wings, Clark shot 10-of-19 from the field, including 5-of-11 from three-point range. She also contributed four rebounds, 12 assists, and one steal, marking her 12th double-double of the season, although she did have seven turnovers.
