Civale’s Comeback: Will It Spark Brewers’ Playoff Push?

Aaron Civale is set to make his return to the Milwaukee Brewers’ starting rotation on Thursday night as they kick off a four-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. This marks Civale’s first major league appearance since March 30, when he exited after three innings against the New York Yankees due to a hamstring strain. Brewers manager Pat Murphy has indicated that Civale is anticipated to pitch between 75 to 85 pitches.

Following Civale, Carlos Rodriguez will take the mound for the Brewers, especially important given that the bullpen has been heavily utilized in their recent series against Baltimore. As of now, Milwaukee has not announced any corresponding roster moves.

The Pirates will have right-hander Mike Burrows making his much-anticipated 2025 debut and only his second appearance in the major leagues.

The game is scheduled to start at 5:40 p.m. and will be broadcasted on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin.

In other lineup news, the Pirates have announced their starting nine, including key players such as Oneil Cruz in center field and Andrew McCutchen as the designated hitter.

As this series unfolds, both teams will be looking to gain crucial momentum as the season progresses. The Brewers, currently boasting strong pitching, will look to capitalize on Civale’s return and solidify their standing in the division. This could be a pivotal moment not only for Civale but also for the team’s overall strategy moving forward.
